I’ve done my best to accurately represent the people, science, and data in a factual manner. Any mistakes are unintentional and made in good faith. These are my views, and mine alone. I do not believe any content on this page will change your stance on 7-Oh, our company, or myself. I am simply attempting to share the information that went into helping inform my thoughts and actions.
The article explains that the FDA is cracking down on kratom products that contain high levels of synthetic 7-hydroxymitragynine, a powerful compound with opioid-like effects. It makes clear that the FDA isn’t going after natural kratom leaf, which only has very small, naturally occurring amounts of this compound.
This small study gave different single doses of kratom (1 to 12 grams) to healthy people who occasionally use multiple drugs. No serious side effects were reported, vomiting was the most common issue, especially at higher doses.
Researchers made synthetic versions of 7‑OH (called MGM‑15 and MGM‑16) that target opioid receptors. MGM‑16 was especially powerful, about 240 times stronger than morphine for pain relief and 100 times stronger than gabapentin for nerve pain.
Researchers made lab-based versions of 7‑OH (MGM‑15 and MGM‑16) that work on key opioid receptors. One of them, MGM‑16, was extremely strong, about 240 times more powerful than morphine for pain relief and 100 times stronger than gabapentin for nerve pain. This shows that modifying 7‑OH can significantly increase its opioid effects.
Tests on commercial kratom products found some with unusually high levels of 7‑OH, ranging from 0.52 to 0.64 mg per gram. Animal studies showed that repeated dosing of 7‑OH led to tolerance, cross-tolerance with morphine, and physical dependence.
Tests on commercial kratom supplements found some products with artificially increased levels of 7‑OH, ranging from 0.52 to 0.64 mg per gram. Animal studies showed that repeated use of 7‑OH caused tolerance, cross-tolerance with morphine, and physical dependence, with withdrawal symptoms like immobility, wet dog shakes, and teeth chattering.
Lab and animal tests showed that 7‑OH strongly binds to μ‑opioid receptors and produces effects similar to morphine. At very high doses, some rats developed scratching or skin ulcers, and sedation appeared at doses about 13 times higher than those needed to trigger these effects. Mitragynine acted as a μ‑receptor blocker in lab tests and had to be converted to 7‑OH to produce opioid-like effects.
This study found that 7‑OH is a partial agonist at μ‑opioid receptors. Rats chose to self-administer 7‑OH but not mitragynine, suggesting that 7‑OH may have a higher risk for abuse. A post-mortem case showed a high ratio of 7‑OH to mitragynine, suggesting that how the body converts mitragynine to 7‑OH could play a role in toxicity.

The views I expressed in this video are mine, unscripted and unfiltered. I am not looking to change your opinion of me, nor change your mind as to the stance of 7-oh. I am attempting to share the thoughts and information that went into my decision(s). Decisions I still stand behind today.
Did you know that your employees are acting Ike children and infiltrating 7oh discord servers? Goob/army vet should be blacklisted.
Also, how can you in one breath say 7oh is worse than fentynyl, but then go on to say that the kratom related deaths do not have enough info and that its too early to tell with 7oh and kratom?
People are addicted to all kinds of things. Kratom included.. so if your concern is customers becoming addicted to 7oh since it has been proven to be safe, what is the problem? Adults can make their own decisions. Just because your product is no longer the strongest on the market doesnt mean you should attempt to ruin thousands of people’s lives. Day 1 of a job ban would include many many overdose deaths for people that kratom doesn’t work for.
Also, why is it that 7oh online vendors test their product more thoroughly and transparently than your AKA products? When I scan a COA on a mit 45 shot it takes me to page to buy more. When I scan a COA from my 7oh it takes me to current lab results.
Why do we only hear about mit related deaths and not 7oh? We all agree kids ahouldnt have it, and we dont even want to support the shitty smoke shop brands that name their products after illegal drugs… but all of the products sold online are safer and more transparent sbout what they are than your mit45 products. No one on the 7oh side talked badly about you until you tried to take away thousands of people’s saving grace. You’d really rsther see a bunch of people who have gotten their lives back with a needle in their arm just to raise your profits?
Come on man be honest. It is about profits. When you take 150mg of 7oh you hit a ceiling and judt dont feel it anymore.. when you take 150mg of your product you get eye wobbles, nausea, the whole 9 yards. You are also going to have to explain to your people that because you started a public war with 7oh, you went and got kratom banned in multiple states.
10k people already boycotting you and even if krstom doesnt get banned and 7oh is gone, your company will never survive.
Its easy to see through your lies when you lie one after another on the same article/video. You use excuses for kratom deaths in the same breath you condemn 7oh with. I hope you sleep well at night buddy.
If the AKA, or our company, were concerned about profits (or revenue) as the deciding factor in this conversation, why wouldn’t we simply make 7-oh and sell it?
Even if we didn’t know how to make it (which we do), we could buy thousands of kilos online and make it quickly. We would already have the distribution network built, and a customer base for it.
If it was all about profits, flipping a switch to make it would be quick and easy for us all.
So why don’t we do it? Why don’t we jump in? Why don’t we make a small part of the $9b that is floating around from the product?
I know why we have chosen not to…
The science that we see, shows the addictive nature of the product. Between short half lives and being a mu opioid receptor agonist, the likelihood for addiction is very high even when consumed at low serving sizes.
Thanks for taking the time to progress a conversation and share your thoughts.
I am not aware of anyone “infiltrating” discord servers, or how one would go about doing that.
As it pertains to 7-oh being worse than fentanyl, perhaps I wasn’t clear with my thoughts.
Having a product that is a mu opioid agonist with clinical data showing that it is 13x more potent than morphine on the open market in gas stations, c stores and smoke shops does not make sense to me. Because these products are so easily accessible, and are promoted in retail environments across the country, I believe novice consumers are being exposed to the products and then becoming addicted.
Fentanyl is not sold at the point of sale in a gas station. It is not readily available online.
I will look into the QR codes on the side of our products as they should take you to a page where you can see into manufacturing facility to see us producing products as well as the COAs for the product you are holding.
Of course I don’t want to see anyone with “a needle in their arm”. Perhaps the answer doesn’t lie in needing 7-oh, kratom or a needle in an arm….perhaps it resides in sobriety and stopping the dependency cycle?
I have not yet seen the scientific data on the ceiling effect you are sharing at 150mg of consumption. I would like to as that does sound promising. Promising assuming that people would stop their consumption at that level, and not chase a feeling with more consumption that could lead to respiratory depression.
I don’t believe there is irrefutable evidence of kratom death or 7-oh death. While there have been multiple stated kratom deaths, reading the toxicology reports of many of them paints a different picture. A picture of co morbidities, contra indications and polyamorous consumption of various substances.
I do not know that 7-oh is killing, has killed, or will kill anyone.
I do know that every piece of scientific literature I can find shares the atomistic nature of 7-oh to the mu receptor and how much more potent it is than mitragynine alone.
I believe 7 oh can (and should) have a place in commerce…I just don’t believe that place is at a gas station, c store or smoke shop.
“I may be in an expensive studio with fancy lights and my McLaren parked out front. But I’m only here as me, not influenced by the millions I’ve made selling kratom extracts just like 7OH products. I’m here only to slander a safe substance. With other vendors coming out selling better products, I just can’t stand by and allow money to go to their pockets instead of mine. It’s outrageous. A safe alkaloid? Nah that’s a danger to my pockets. BAN IT! Let me touch your soul real quick with this slow talk saying i understand: It may have helped you, saved your life, dealt with your pain. But that doesn’t matter because it’s not happening from my $20 extract shot. If you get addicted to 7OH? That’s on me, to step up and spread misinformation to fix it. If you get addicted to my extracts? You’re getting sued it’s a lie.”
You’re despicable but I hope you get enough money to buy your soul back one day.
Thanks for the comment. I believe we have a different view of what safe may mean.
If a product is 13x more potent than morphine, I don’t know that it is “safe”. I also don’t know that it is horrible or unsafe.
If a product has been scientifically proven to function on opioid receptors solely, which lead to addiction / dependency I don’t know that those products are safe. I do not know if they are unsafe either.
I don’t believe that kratom is unilaterally “safe” either.
Nor do I believe that it is completely unsafe.
I believe that with a 20-24hr half life and 6-7 days to clear a persons system in totality, responsible consumption is paramount.
25mg of Mitragynine per serving (about 1mg of 7-oh per serving on the upper end) with no more than 5 servings per day begins to ensure that consumers don’t unwillingly become dependent on kratom either.
I respect your view on our products, or even the category, while disagreeing with them. I believe that kratom, when consumed in a responsible manner, can provide ample benefits to a large number of people. I believe the over consumption and continuously chasing “more and more” is not good as it pertains to any product, kratom included.
First, my background
I was addicted to opioids for several years. Then switched to Subutex and Suboxone. Then quit cold turkey. Complete hell. Then found kratom. Loved every aspect of kratom. The mood, energy, pain relief, relaxation, everything. And just like you said I was dupped. I just thought it was kratom. But I got hooked. And now I’m trying to quit. It’s the same withdrawal symptoms from a few years ago. It’s like a nightmare revisited. I will beat it but it still sucks and I shouldn’t have never been in that position to begin with. And I just blame me. Not the government. Not the businesses. Not even the guy that first sold it to me. Just me. And I don’t even consider myself a “hardcore 70h addict” as I was only taken maybe 70 mgs a day. But it still hits the same as when I was doing opioids. And I’m still the addict and it took me a few weeks to realize what I was doing and what I was going on. So here I am. Fighting. But I will win.
Thank you for the video and your bravery. Stay strong.
Found this video on a quitting 7oh subreddit.
Andrew….thank you for being willing to voice your struggle and shine light on what many may experience. I commend you for taking personal responsibility. If there are resources, connections or ideas that you believe we may have to assist you in reducing your 7-oh consumption, please reach out. To me…this does NOT include taking our product.
I believe that there are many modalities to assist with consumption reduction, and more often than not that does not include exchanging one product for another.
I beleive in you. You will triumph and get through this better on the other side.
Honestly man your full of shit an 90% of the community knows it. Mgm15 and 16 should be banned but they are not the same as 7oh at all. It’s odd this is coming out just a couple days after more than 10k people pledged to not use your products ever again
Your MIT shot my first time felt exactly like 15mg of oxy. Kratom has killed ppl 7oh has killed no one. They are hurting your profits and your being a little bitxh about it instead of just .akin a better product. Fuck off dude were do e with your garbage I use to buy 1 MIT shot a day now im done. By by bitch voy
Marcus…thanks for sharing your view on me, and our business. I beleive we make world class products that are intended for specific consumer with specific consumption ideals.
I don’t wish for any of our products to feel like any pharmaceutical product. I don’t believe that is best for the expansion of the category.
As it pertains to the deaths associated with Kratom, 7-Oh ext…I beleive the data is a bit “murky”.
When reviewing and analyzing the stated “kratom” based deaths, looking at contraindications, co-morbidities and other factors creates a challenging landscape to fully draw conclusions from.
7-oh currently is not tested exclusively post mortem, nor is it widely understood to be something that is asked about or looked for.
I beleive it’s a bit early to consider absolutes around potential deaths from 7-oh or kratom.
The digestive enzyme pathway and metabolism of other substances in someone’s body is comparable with the consumption of either.
For me, the sale of 7-oh is not about causing death to people, it is about having new consumers become addicted to a product.
I look forward to exploring more science as it comes out, and considering all possibilities into the future.
Your product ruined my life 10x times 7-oh. Its a PRODRUG. A word that weirdly, NONE of you want to accept. Look into the meaning of that. Do you know why big Pharma made vyvanse? To eliminate the effects of negatively of adderall. MIT45 has been targeting children in smoke shops a long time. Thats how it was sold to me! Show me deaths from a prodrug toxicity purely, versus YOUR product. I have withdrawn off both, but with MIT 45, the REAL product, I have never had a worse withdrawal in my life. And I have gone thru both as stated! I will NEVER touch an MIT45 bottle the rest of my life. You guys did the same thing if not worse! The warning label can BARELY be read. And if you are so, so, so against overusing it, you guys have DEEP pockets from many sources including me, times I couldn’t have withdrawal happen cause of the event going on, or having to be at work. 7-oh never made me so broke like the MIT45 did. Never had to call and beg them for 7-oh money, i did with MIT45! And im in my 20’s ive had withdrawals but from everything, benzos to opiates, I was never more embarrassed from how I feel. And i snapped on her ONLY due rage via MIT45. Going from 15$ to 22$ per bottle. Do the math. You are selling a substandard product yourselves! IT IS A PRODRUG. MIT45? IT IS A DEMON HIDING VEHIND “PURITY” and “ENERGY” and lets look at results should we? 16% WEAKER than advertised and Methylene chloride is found in every bottle. I promised to my ex, my family, and myself i wont
Richard…thank you for your comment. I was not familiar with the term “PRODRUG”.
Prodrug – A prodrug is a pharmacologically inactive medication or compound that, after intake, is metabolized into a pharmacologically active drug.
While I view kratom and our products as something slightly different, I am easily able to draw the parallels between the two.
I believe that when kratom is consumed, following the CYP450 digestive enzyme pathway, other consumables that follow the same pathway become more bio available.
This is not from pharmaceutical design, but potentially from the molecular structure and weight of kratom vs other substances in the digestive track.
This is not yet proven to be true, and I could be very wrong the “why” bioavailability of other products increase. But they do.
The last thing I would want is for any child to consume our products. Our packaging is 21+ and we have never used cartoons, graphics or images that were intended for a child to see or enjoy. I am not aware of anything we have done to promote products to children, ever.
As far as the “strength” of our product is concerned, it is our standard to test materials for potency and purity prior to manufacturing, during and after. We do this to ensure a number of things happen. One of which is a consistent and predictable experience consuming our products
Just shit it dude your a lier and your product was just put on the never buy again list a week ago. Im done with your trash wobble juice you being against 7oh is just u trying to get your profits back.
But we all hate you now man fuck your wobble juice i was legit about to buy 2 more 13 backs a couple days ago buy my buddy told me about u. I told my 3 smoke shops I go to and im helping them get new shots from online venders. Or im going to get extract from an old 7oh vender and make shots for my local shops. All 3 of them said please do and they will drop your products the second 7oh gets banned.
Your the problem people are going to get hurt and its your fault
7 oh saved my life. It’s a non synthetic alkaloid in kratom. I’d be dead without 7 oh, while kratom has caused me seizures and Crohn’s disease issues. 7OH takes an away my pain, safely. Used responsibly, it saves lives from addiction from drugs that can cause overdose or a dependency that leads to heroin. 7OH does the opposite. It keeps addicts away from harder drugs, and helps pain. There are no overdose deaths. You’re spewing lives because 7OH is taking away from your mit sales. Well you guys by advocating for banning 7OH, I hope mit goes with it. I hope 7OH doesn’t get banned and people like you stop spewing lies because you’re losing money. Kratom is nasty mud water with terrible side effects and withdrawl. My kratom withdrawal was worse than my daily 20 mg 7OH use. 4 days of taking small doses, I had barely any withdrawal while my pain was gone, and allows me to work. Chugging down mud water and gross mit feel gross. Not to mention all the nasty solvents in your products. I hope you go down with 7OH. Such a shame as 7OH is helping a lot of people.
7OH is 100% SemiSynthetic. There is not enough Kratom trees grown in the world to feed the 7OH market. There are no companies actually isolating 7OH from plants. They are chemically making 7OH from Mitragynine.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts. I agree, 7-oh is found in trace amounts in kratom as a metabolite. When a kratom leaf is alive, there is next to 0 7-OH present.
The process they manufactures put Mitragynine through can convert it into 7-oh which makes it a semi synthetic at the very least.
1 kilogram of green vein powder would contain roughly:
– 13,500 mg of Mitragynine
– 250 mg of 7-OH
The current body of scientific literature that I have been able to find would support the conversation that responsible kratom consumption would have a significantly lower probably for dependency based around the antagonistic nature of a few of the top alkoloids in kratom. This would create a “buffer” against exclusive mu receptor binding.
7-OH is exclusively a mu receptor agonist.
I am glad you have found a product that helps you on a daily basis.
Looking forward to seeing your next video addressing the new thing going around on Reddit. Your current employees telling people on Discord that the MIT45 leadership team sold Spice before Kratom, fired a ton of people to buy a jet, and cut everyone else’s pay.
Thank you for the message. I know with absolute certainty that no one on our leadership team sold spice nor was associated with it.
We have chosen to focus on ensuring that we hire top of market talent, pay them top of market wages, and hold them to top of market standards.
We have done this while offering continuing education reimbursement, college tuition payments, health insurance for our co workers and their entire families with no premium payment for them, and much more.
I know that we have consistently put the needs and well being of our co workers at the forefront of our decisions.
There is not one person inside of our company that could truthfully share that they are paid at or below market wages for their roles.
Thank you for your comment and concern for the well being of the team at diversified botanics.
I was reading through your replies to commenters on here and saw you mention to Dan that your stance on 7-OH has very little to do profits. I find that hard to believe. You have current employees going on discord and other social platforms saying less than a year ago you were doing 10+ million dollars a month in sales and now you are doing sub 2 million. If that’s true, that seems like a pretty big issue to need to solve, and the way you went about solving it was getting your biggest competition recommended for scheduling. Even the local smoke shop I go to and talk shop with talks about how much of a mess MIT45 is and all the stuff they hear from their “rep”. I just feel like your replies to people in this thread are not honest and are just to save face.
Thank you for taking time to read through the posts on the wall and leave a few of your thoughts here for consideration.
In 2023 we knew how to make 7-Oh. We decided not to. Anytime from spring of 2023 until now, we could easily and quickly begin manufacturing 7-Oh. If the business was solely about revenue (or profit) this would have been the decision to make.
The scientific literature shows that 7-Oh is a Mu opiod receptor agonist. Here is an early study from 2020 that shares the strength of 7-oh to be 13x more than morphine (https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC7203303/)
While considering the validity of one study, we found many more than supported the same lines of thought.
Here is another from 2021 where 7-oh has a 9x higher affinity to the MU receptor than Mitragynine.
These are studies that helped us inform our decision to not enter the 7-Oh space. These studies were published long before the current landscape of 7-oh existed.
My first trips to D.C. to begin to work on this issue were late April / early May of this year. I have spent significant time in Washington working on this since then. It has taken time to draw attention / awareness to 7-Oh.
I also appreciate the comment that our co – workers / staff are being cited as sharing revenue numbers from last year and this year. I have not seen any evidence of this, nor do I believe that our co workers would make up such things and share them online. Perhaps I am mistaken, I simply don’t see it.

That’s the gods honest truth right there. Absolutely all that needs to be said. AKA wants to ban it because it’s eating into their profits.

You can see the scientific data that we refer to in an effort to assist in our stance.
I do not wish for any person to be addicted to any substance, including any of ours.
All the best
Thank you for your advocacy and transparency, Ryan! More of this is needed in the Kratom industry. 🍃
Thank you for your kind words. I appreciate being able to have open dialogue, even when agreements can’t be found.

I wish you all of the best in your journey.
People are already getting hurt. Have you seen the Quitting7OH subreddit? People are genuinely loosing everything.
Dan,
Thank you for taking the time to watch the video, and express your concerns / vantage point.
I am not familiar with the “never buy again list”.
I am not against 7-OH. My stance on the product has very little to do with profits, and a lot to do with its opioid receptor interaction.
The probably of addiction for 7-oh is significant. I don’t beleive it’s best for highly addictive products to be in market.
I also don’t believe kratom extracts, without metered servings, should be in market for the same reason.
I don’t believe that past extract customers come back to kratom when 7-OH is banned. The chance of higher revenue from this is unlikely to me.
If you decide to embark in creating your own extract based product, I wish you success.
Please make certain you meet cGMP standards with your production, and that labels are clear and accurate.
The more good actors and high quality product can be in commerce, the better the industry will be as a whole.
Brandon,
Thank you for sharing your thoughts.
I wish you all the best.
I use to carry ur products in my shops was good friends with Ty but you sold out bro 🙁
Brandon,
Thanks for the message. I am uncertain what I have sold out to or for.
I have chosen to follow the science of kratom and the fda guidelines for production.
A path I will continue to choose.
I wish you all the best, and tell Ty hello for me.
I appreciate the explanation.
Looking forward to seeing your next video addressing the new thing going around on Reddit. Your current employees telling people on Discord that the MIT45 leadership team sold Spice before Kratom, fired a ton of people to buy a jet, and cut everyone else’s pay.
Simon,
Thank you for the message.
Craig,
Thank you for taking time to read through the posts on the wall and leave a few of your thoughts here for consideration.
I wish you all the best.
Ryan
